The Stand

The Stand by Stephen King has a very developed and interesting plot. However the endless description of irrelevant characters and story lines gets in the way of enjoying it.
I think some writers like to show their opinion on types of people and events in the world through their writing. In some books is shows in subtle ways and for others, like Stephen King, it takes up half the book.
A big part of writing is the plot and the basic storyline or structure, but if your writing doesn't have interesting details or flow or isn't concise, you lose potential for it to be a really good book. For some reason, Stephen King's books are bestsellers anyway.

The Visiters Finished

I have finished the book "The Visters" by Daisy Ashford, and I realized that when you write a book, you often stress over the ending. But if the story you create has pleasing and interesting characters, your ending doesn't have to be the most incredible thing in the book.
For example, The Visters doesn't exactly have an ending full of plot twists or reveals. The characters change and she tells a bit about what they do with the rest of their lives. But in a way, it was the best way to end the book. Sometimes I feel like writers try to hard to make their endings perfect and it never sounds satisfying.
I noticed that when writing if all you're working up to is the ending, or one specific moment in the story, maybe your work won't turn out well.
